Versus Action

Versus Actions are used when two or more player or non-player characters are attempting to use their skills to achieve an opposing goal. This action type is commonly used for melee combat, bartering or other competitive situations.

The mechanic is based loosely on Texas Hold’em Poker and involves wagering an action or life force amount. Resolution occurs using the best poker hand between the competing partners and the amount of the wager determines the severity of the result. Higher wagers = higher damager or impact, lower wagers = lower damage or impact.

Characters are delt cards based on their character sheets and play along with the game round to reach resolution. The best 5 card poker hand each character can make based on their hand and the cards delt in the middle (flop, turn and river) are compared and the higher ranked hand wins.
