Bartering Action: Versus
Bartering is used when one character wants something another character has but the stated cost is not acceptable to both parties. The simplest example is bartering with a vendor on item prices, but this mechanic is also used when negotiating pay for work or resolving social standoffs.
Bartering cannot be used to coerce an action from a character that the character is unwilling to do. Unless a lawman is corrupt, you won’t be able to barter your way out of jail.
Bartering can be used in conjunction with the Inquiry Action or Intimidation Action when one party is unwilling to barter. Finding a character’s need can open them up to trading something they were previously unwilling to part with, or making a legitimate threat may open their minds to the possibility.
Perquisite:
- Two parties willing to participate
- A declared item(s) or actions
- Both Parties have the means/items in question.
