The Badlands – Western Kennesaw

The far northwestern region of Kennesaw is a barren land, inhospitable and hostile, although not entirely uninhabited or impermeable.

It’s a land of rolling limestone hills, salt basins and rare scrubby plants or grassland. Water is found in rare springs that are intermittent in availability, or in small salty pools after spring snow melt. Making life difficult for even those familiar with the land.

Fantastical skeletons of creatures long lost dot the landscape or lie under the surface.

Life still finds a way here, with antelope, wild cats and various large rodents call this region home. It is also infested with Karaknids, giant insect-like cryptids often called Rocky Mountain Lobsters.

In the central badlands there are several Retrolithic Caves with ancient mystical paintings and carvings. These are often infested with Karaknids. Because of this most expeditions to explore the caves or look for Akkunaki relics occur during the winter with those cryptids are less active in the upper, colder levels of the caves.
